San Antonio Flotilla 74 is proud to announce that this year, we have help seven (7) young people to join the USCG Academy to have a bright future, thanks to the effort of Vice Flotilla Commander Raul Hinojosa who is also an "Academy Admission Partner". This is an impressive record given that admission is highly selective: From approximately 6,000 applicants across the country, 300 new cadets are enrolled each year.

What does it take to join the U.S.C.G.?

The United States Coast Guard is looking for young men and women for enlistment. The following are some of the basic qualifications to join the United States Coast Guard. Each applicant must:

1. A U.S. citizen of sound moral character
2. Unmarried with no dependents or financial debt
3. 17-22 years of age upon entry (if you are 17, you will need parental consent)
4. A high school graduate or G.E.D. recipient
5. Physically fit and medically qualified.
