My name is Brian Bartay.
I was born on July 8, 1988 in Harlingen, Texas.
I have been wanting to go to the Coast Guard Academy
since I was 13. My father, James Bartay, is a Medical
Doctor and my mother, Patricia Bartay, is his office
manager. I have one sister, Bethany Bartay, who goes
to school at Texas State University in San Marcos. My
grandfather (Vernon Bartay) was an Air Force Korean
War Veteran and retired from the State Highway
Department and is survived by my grandmother, Valeria
Bartay.
My family moved to New Braunfels in 1994. I will be
graduating from New Braunfels Christian Academy in
May.
I have played four years of varsity football for my
school as a center and defensive lineman. I was a
Team Captain in my senior year. I also have played
four years of varsity soccer as a forward. I played
both baseball and tennis my freshman year. I have
served on the student council as Junior Class
Representative and Senior Class Representative.
I joined the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps when I was
14. I have attended Sea Cadet Boot Camp, Petty
Officer Leadership Academy (POLA), Master-At-Arms
training, and Emergency Medical Technician Training.
